OUR MISSION

Recovery Is More Than Sobriety

Recovery isn't just putting down a substance. It's getting your life back — and that takes a program built around what drives long-term sobriety. Clinical depth. Lived experience. The joys of life that pull people back into themselves.
Jonathon Ciampa, CEO and Co-Founder of Wolf Creek Recovery

CEO AND CO-FOUNDER

Leading with compassion, clinical depth, and long-term recovery in mind.

01

Compassion, Not Clinical

Our team meets you where you are — without detachment, without judgment. Many of us have been through recovery ourselves. When you call, you're talking to someone who's been there.

02

The Full Continuum

Residential, PHP, IOP, OP, and Extended Care. We're built for sustained recovery, not a 30-day fix. Recovery is a process, and the program reflects that.

03

The Joys of Life

Outdoor recreation, sports, family-oriented therapy, and Arizona as your backdrop. Recovery should feel like living again — not a hospital stay.

WHAT SETS US APART

Built Different — On Purpose

We built Wolf Creek around what actually drives long-term sobriety. These four pillars are how.

Real Clinical Depth

Dual diagnosis. Trauma-driven addiction. Complex co-occurring conditions. Wolf Creek is built for cases that need real clinical depth — EMDR specialization, strong psychiatric team, continuity of care across the full continuum. We treat what's driving the substance use, not just the substance use itself.

Real Compassion

We don't do clinical detachment. Recovery is hard enough without your treatment team treating you like a case file. We meet you with warmth and honesty — and the conviction that real recovery is the only kind worth doing.

Joys of Life

Outdoor activities, sports, golf, and family-oriented therapy aren't extras — they're central to how we approach recovery. Reclaiming what you love is part of the work.

Arizona Setting

The Arizona setting isn't just where we are — it's part of how we heal. Open sky, dry air, distance from the patterns that pulled you in. The setting matters.

JOYS OF LIFE

Recovery Lives Outside the Treatment Room

Real recovery happens in the things that make life worth living — outside, in motion, with the people you love. Our approach builds therapy into the activities that pull you back into yourself.

Outdoor therapy in Arizona

Outdoor & Adventure Therapy

Hiking, nature exposure, outdoor group sessions — core to how we work, not bolted on. The Arizona setting isn't a backdrop; it's a tool. Open air, sustained physical effort, and time outside reach something talk therapy alone can't. For many residents, this becomes the part they didn't expect to love.

  • Hiking
  • Outdoor Group Sessions
  • Nature Exposure
  • Open-Air Reflection

Healing happens in the right environment.

Sports and recreation at Wolf Creek Recovery

Sports & Movement

Golf, basketball, fitness, gym work — built into the daily rhythm, not a side activity. Movement is recovery work, even when it doesn't feel like it. Reconnecting with your body. Remembering the satisfaction of physical effort. Playing a sport you used to love and finding you still do.

  • Basketball

Family therapy and visits at Wolf Creek Recovery

Family-Oriented Care

A structured family therapy track — not a one-off session. Family weeks, designated visiting time, ongoing support for the people in your corner. Recovery happens in connection. We help you rebuild the relationships addiction strained, alongside the rebuilding of yourself.

  • Family Week
  • Visiting Time
  • Ongoing Support

What treatment looks like, day to day. Not a clinical environment dressed up — a residence where the work happens, with rooms designed for living rather than passing through.

Bedroom at Wolf Creek Recovery

The Bedroom

Sleep is recovery work too. The bedrooms are designed for the kind of rest that actually restores — quiet, personal, comfortable. The room is where the day settles. Where your nervous system can come down. Where the next day starts from a real foundation.

  • Quiet evenings
  • Personal space
  • Real rest
  • Where the day winds down

Recovery starts where the body rests.

Pool table room at Wolf Creek Recovery

The Pool Table Room

Treatment isn't all sessions. Recovery happens in the in-between — the unstructured hours between groups and meals, when residents actually live in the place they're recovering in. The pool table room is part of that. Where you remember what it's like to do something for the simple satisfaction of doing it. To play. To laugh. To be a person again, not a patient.

  • Downtime that matters
  • Real connection
  • Between the sessions
  • Just being a person
Dining room at Wolf Creek Recovery

The Dining Room

Shared meals, three times a day. It sounds small. It isn't. Sitting down with people who understand what you're doing — without explanation, without performance — is part of what rebuilds the muscles addiction wore down. The dining room is where the structure of the day shows up most clearly. And where a lot of recovery happens, between bites, in conversation.

  • Shared meals
  • Real conversation
  • Three times a day
  • Where structure happens

COMMON QUESTIONS

What People Ask Us First

Here's what comes up most often. If your question isn't here, just call — our admissions team is available 24/7.

  • We work with most major out-of-network (OON) insurance carriers — Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, Anthem, Optum, Carelon, Beacon, GEHA, MultiPlan, AmeriBen, TriWest, and many more. Our admissions team navigates the insurance jungle for you — maximizing your coverage, minimizing your out-of-pocket. We do not accept Medicaid or Medicare. Call to verify your specific benefits in minutes — confidential and no obligation.

  • It depends on your insurance benefits and the level of care you need. With most OON carriers, a substantial portion of treatment is typically covered — often more than people expect. Our admissions team will verify your benefits, explain what's covered, and walk you through any out-of-pocket costs before you commit to anything. No surprise bills.

  • Treatment length is matched to your needs, not a calendar. Many people start with detox (typically a few days to a week), then move into residential or PHP for several weeks, followed by IOP, OP, and Extended Care that can extend through the first year of recovery. Longer stays consistently produce better outcomes — and we work with your insurance to support that.

  • Yes — extensively. Wolf Creek is built for complex co-occurring conditions — depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, trauma-driven addiction. Our psychiatric team and EMDR specialization mean we treat what's driving the substance use, not just the substance use itself.

  • You're not alone in this — most calls we receive are from family members. We'll talk with you about your loved one's situation, walk you through options, and help you think through next steps. We can also coach you on how to approach the conversation. There's no judgment, just experience. Many of our team members have been on your side of this call.

  • Mornings start with breakfast and a community check-in, then individual therapy with your primary therapist (whom you'll see often — most weeks, multiple times). Afternoons mix clinical group work — including the EMDR trauma track when it's part of your treatment plan — with recreation: outdoor activities, sports, fitness. Evenings are quieter: meals, peer support, downtime. The structure is steady but not regimented.

  • Family involvement is built in, not bolted on. We have designated visiting times, family rooms designed for these conversations, and a structured family therapy track that runs alongside individual treatment when it's clinically appropriate. Recovery happens in connection — including with the people who love you.

  • Aftercare planning starts well before you leave. We help connect you with outpatient providers, sober-living arrangements if needed, and our own Extended Care program that supports the first year of recovery — including continuity of psychiatric care, which is often where post-treatment plans fall apart elsewhere. Many of our alumni stay in touch. Recovery is ongoing — and we don't disappear when you walk out the door.
